SELECTED AROUND YOUR OPENING

Motors. Controls.
A considered combination.

The motor creates the movement. The controls shape how you use it. Together, they make a large door easier to operate or bring a difficult-to-reach window within everyday use.

Browse the range below for a clear introduction to each product. Airla works with homeowners, architects, builders and opening manufacturers to confirm the combination that suits the project.

Airla supplies, installs and commissions automation. Your chosen manufacturer supplies the doors, windows and glazing. Motor, actuator and control selection is confirmed against the opening, hardware, installation space and project requirements.

For windows, discuss individual or grouped operation, weather sensing and suitable backup power with Airla.

A few useful details.

Connecting your doors or windows to an existing control system

Door systems connect to a home or building control system through a dry-contact interface at the control box. The control system provides four momentary relay outputs, one each for open, close, stop and unlock.

KNX, C-Bus and Dynalite connect this way. The same relay method applies to platforms such as Control4 or Crestron where your integrator provides the relay outputs. Your integrator supplies and programs the relays; Airla confirms the wiring and the commands.

Window controllers accept a wired switch input, and a signal converter is available for third-party signals. Confirm the interface for the selected motor or actuator before the control system is designed.

Voice-control compatibility

Voice control uses a Wi-Fi module on the door system, included with the 12-in-1 touchscreen. Google Home and Amazon Alexa are set up as routines, one for each command.

Apple Home uses a separate module, so supporting both groups requires two modules. Third-party platform compatibility is not guaranteed. Airla confirms the interface and supported door commands for your installation.

Power for a door system

Door motors run at 24 V DC from a control box. The control box needs a dedicated 240 V 10 A GPO installed by a licensed electrician, and can sit up to 30 metres from the motor. Battery backup is built in.

The GPO and any mains work are provided by your electrician unless agreed otherwise in the scope of works.

To confirm for your project: IP rating and the exact supplied variant should be confirmed for the intended location.

Interfaces, sensors and backup power must form a compatible system. Channel counts alone do not establish how many windows can operate together. Ask Airla to confirm actuator load, connection details and the final product schedule.

A few useful answers.

Supply, power, controls and existing openings. For anything specific to your project, send the drawings and we will answer against them.

Ask a project question →

Can I buy a motor or control separately?

For suitable projects, yes. Airla can quote supply only, or supply with commissioning. Tell us the opening and the intended use and we will confirm compatibility and the appropriate scope before recommending a product.

Does Airla supply the complete window or door?

No. Your chosen manufacturer supplies the opening and glazing. Airla provides the automation: motors, actuators, controls and the agreed installation and commissioning.

What power does a door system need?

The motors run at 24 V DC from a control box. The control box needs one dedicated 240 V 10 A GPO installed by a licensed electrician, and can sit up to 30 metres from the motor. Battery backup is built in.

How is an automated door operated?

Every door system works from four commands: open, close, stop and unlock. The 12-in-1 touchscreen is the main wall control. A remote, an exterior keypad, hands-free sensors or a fingerprint reader can be added.

Voice control through Google Home or Amazon Alexa uses the Wi-Fi module and depends on your devices, so we confirm it for your project.

Can it connect to home automation or a building system?

Yes, through a dry-contact interface at the control box. The control system provides four momentary relay outputs for open, close, stop and unlock. KNX, C-Bus and Dynalite connect this way, and the same method applies to other platforms where the integrator provides relay outputs.

Can these products be used on an existing opening?

Some existing openings are suitable. On an existing sliding door the motor can be surface-mounted at the jamb behind a cover finished to match the frame, and wireless controls can avoid new wall cabling.

We first assess the condition, hardware, weight, power access and fixing space. See the retrofit assessment page for what to send.

How do I choose the right motor?

A model name or maximum load alone is not enough. The guide figures are a starting point: about 450 kg across two or three panels for the Sierra motor and about 1,300 kg for the Peak motor. Share the opening details and Airla will assess the configuration, moving weight, required operation and installation space.

How do windows close when the weather changes?

A wind, light and rain sensor can be added to a window controller so the windows close automatically. The sensor closes the windows; it does not reopen them afterwards.

Let’s select the right automation.

Share drawings or photos of the opening, or a project message that explains what you would like to automate. We’ll help identify suitable motors, controls and the next steps.
